Frequently AskedQuestions
The modules(5)
What is the difference between the three modules?
Accounting is about bookkeeping and financial insight. Notary supports the preparation of notarial files. Pay is about preparing, checking and following payments. Together they form the product direction of one Cefio platform.
Who is Cefio being built for?
For entrepreneurs, finance teams and accountants who want to bring their financial work together. Cefio Notary is meant specifically for notary offices, with a standard Dutch BV incorporation as the first supported workflow.
Does AI take over all decisions?
No. AI supports the processing and the preparation. Staff review the proposals. The notary keeps substantive responsibility for the file, and payments go through the approvals you have set.
Is payroll part of Cefio Pay?
Yes, payroll and salary runs belong to the further product direction of Cefio Pay. The first scope covers payments, direct debits, payment requests and approvals. Payroll is a planned extension.
Are all features available already?
Cefio is in development. This site shows the intended modules and example screens. The availability of features, connections and pilots is confirmed per module.
Accounting(5)
What is Cefio Accounting?
Accounting software with an AI CFO built in. It keeps your books, reads your bank, prepares your VAT, and tells you each week what needs your attention.
Does it replace my accounting package?
Yes. Cefio has its own ledger, so it replaces your bookkeeping software rather than sitting on top of it. From Business up, we bring your history across when you switch. One difference to know: at launch Cefio prepares your VAT return, but you or your accountant still file it.
Does it replace my accountant?
No. It takes over the chasing and the checking, so your time with your accountant goes to decisions. Business plans and up give your accountant their own access and exports.
Which languages does Cefio speak?
Dutch and English, in the screens and in the chat. Each user picks their own.
Is there an app?
Cefio runs in your browser on phone, tablet and laptop. There is nothing to install.
Getting started(5)
When can I start?
Cefio Accounting launches in January 2027. A pilot with a first group of companies runs in the autumn of 2026. Join the waitlist and we'll write to you before launch.
What do the first customers get?
The first 50 customers get no price increases for 24 months: the prices on this site are fixed for them. On Start the introductory price still applies as shown: €24.95 for the first 12 months, then €34.95. It is written on your order form.
How do I move from my current software?
From Business up, we move your ledger, VAT history and open items from Exact, Moneybird or e-Boekhouden, so you start with your history in place: €249 on Business, €499 on Holding, billed once. Start has a guided setup for a one-off €49.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. 14 days on Start and Business, no card required.
How does the bank connection work?
Through a licensed PSD2 provider. You give consent in your own bank's screens and can withdraw it at any time.
Pricing & contract(5)
What does Cefio Accounting cost?
Start is €24.95 a month for your first 12 months, then €34.95. Business is €129.95. Holding is €199.95, plus €79.95 for each extra entity, up to three. Enterprise starts at €999 and Group at €1,999 a month. All prices exclude VAT.
Do you charge per user?
No, not on any plan. Cefio is priced per company and per group.
Can I cancel?
Start, Business and Holding are monthly, with one month's notice, in the app. Enterprise has a 12-month minimum term and Group a 24-month minimum.
Is there a discount for paying annually?
Yes, 10% on every plan.
What happens after the first 12 months on Start?
The price moves to €34.95 a month. That step is on your order form from day one. It is an introductory price agreed up front, not an index-linked increase.
Data & security(4)
Where is my data kept?
In the European Union.
Is my data used to train AI?
Not to train general AI models. Your data is used to run your own account, and Cefio learns from the corrections you make there, so its suggestions for your books improve.
How long are records kept?
While you are a customer, Cefio keeps your records for seven years, in line with the Dutch retention requirement, with every change logged. If you leave, you can export all your records at no extra charge. Keeping a read-only archive in Cefio after that is a paid option. The retention duty itself stays yours.
Can Cefio move my money?
No. Cefio never holds your money. Where a payment is involved, Cefio prepares it and you approve it; it is executed through your own bank or a payment partner.
AI & trust(3)
Can the AI get numbers wrong?
The figures are computed from your ledger by the accounting engine, not by a language model, and each one links to its source. The explanations and advice are AI-written and can be wrong. That is why Cefio always shows how it got there and leaves the decision to you.
Does Cefio act on its own?
No. It prepares actions: a reminder, a VAT reservation, a draft file, a payment batch. Nothing goes out until the right person approves it.
How do I know what was written by AI?
AI-written answers are labelled as AI in the product.
